Oshiomhole apologises over
comments to a widow

Benin – Gov. Adams
Oshiomhole of Edo on Friday
apologised for the comments
he made to a widow in Benin
during an inspection tour on
Mission Road, in the state
capital, a fortnight ago.
Oshiomhole said that he now
regretted the comments which
had become the subject of
discourse in the social media.
The Governor, however, noted
that he made the comments in
anger.
Oshiomhole’s apology was
made when the leadership of
the Federation of Muslim
Women’s Association of Nigeria
(FOMWAN), paid him a courtesy
visit in Benin.
He noted that though the
challenge of modern times had
bestowed on the shoulders of
some women and single
mothers the status of bread
winners of their homes, such
should not be used as an
accuse to flout the laws.
The Governor urged the Muslim
women leaders to use their
offices to propagate the
essence of healthy living
among children and women in
the nation and the need to
maintain proper sanitary
conditions in their
neighbourhoods.
Oshiomhole lamented that the
challenge of widowhood had
also exposed children to
different temptations, adding
that there was the need for
society to be careful, to avoid
unwittingly creating more
problems for the nation.
He noted that money was not
the best thing that guaranteed
ones happiness, “but honesty
and selfless service.
The Governor added that if
Muslims and Christians were
adequately committed to their
religious doctrines, the world
would be a better place.
He urged the women to
propagate the message of
Islam through the nooks and
crannies of the nation, and to
also inculcate the values of
honesty in their followers.
Oshiomhole, however, assured
the association of
government’s support in
ensuring that its present
leadership made remarkable
progress and also consolidated
on the successes of their
predecessors.
Earlier, the FOMWAN National
President, Hajia Amina Omoti,
urged the state government to
look into the issue of the
teaching of Islamic Religious
Studies in public schools in the
state.
Omoti also solicited for
government’s moral and
financial support for the
effective running of the
association.
Could this be true? If so
we must congratulate the
diminutive actor for
finding such a beautiful
woman to date in his
circumstance. I hear the
babe is a Ghanaian
actress, known as Nana
Ama McBrown.
The small boy may grow
up and start pursuing girls
to get between their
laps...people won't know
why!
His father was a gambler
who never really had time
to train him on the right
path and he ended up on
the wrong path, as one of
the most deadly armed
robbers in the history of
Nigeria - his name is
Godogodo!
Sunday, September 9,
2012, will remain indelible
in the minds of many
families in Lagos State,
who lost loved ones to the
brazen attack of a gang
of heavily armed robbers,
who laid siege to strategic
points in the state, killing
at least three policemen
and several other citizens,
while scores sustained
injuries.
But the arrest of the
members of the gang that
operated that day,
including the notorious
robbery czar, Abiodun
Ogunjobi, aka, Godogodo,
would bring relief to
relatives and friends of
those killed or injured that
day.
Meanwhile, Godogodo,
who was arrested by
operatives of the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad,
SARS, led by SP Abba
Kyari, on August 1, 2013,
has revealed how he
coordinated the bloody
operation.
Bureau de Change robbery
He gave chilling details of
how he led members of
the gang to cart away
millions of dollars from
bureau de change
operators in Agege and
Gbagada areas of Lagos.
According to Godogodo,
“On that fateful day, I
called one of my boys,
Sayeed Omolopa, to meet
me at AlfaBeach in Ajah,
and some other boys led
by Kasali and Ejike. “They
were about seven and my
boys were five. Yemi
Boss, who came with
Ejike, said we should go
to Agege and rob some
bureau de change
operators.
The agreement was that
everyone will get what he
lays his hands on. “We
used two vehicles and
over nine AK-47 rifles.
When we got to Agege,
some bureau de change
operators that saw us ran
to us thinking we wanted
to change money and we
opened fire on them and
ran into their shops to
pack all the money we
found. “In fact, we robbed
from shop to shop and we
also shot sporadically to
scare people. We shot at
people who tried to block
the road and prevent us
from moving.
I can’t count the number
of people killed in that
operation. “Wherever
people tried to block the
road, we opened fire on
them. The boys that went
with me for that job were
notorious, they were
difficult to control but they
all feared me. We made a
lot of money from the
operation “While we were
trying to escape, we met
a team of policemen
attached to the Rapid
Response Squad, RRS,
and we thought they were
after us.
On approaching them, we
opened fire on the van
and killed all the police in
it and collected their rifles
and escaped through
Lagos-Abekuta road.
“Money was not shared
after the operation
because everyone took
whatever he was able to
grab. When I got home I
realised that I made over
N500,000, but some days
later, I was informed that
one of my boys, Tosin,
made over N6 million
from the operation.
“Everybody made a lot of
money from the operation.
I didn’t border to read the
newspapers the next day
to know the extent of
damage but I knew many
people lost their lives in
that operation. You know,
as robbers, we do not go
for operations to kill but
we kill when we don’t
have option.” Why we
killed policemen
Godogodo also narrated
how he and members of
his gang killed four
policemen at Ajah, in
February 2013, snatching
three AK-47 rifles from
them.
According to Vanguard
report, he said he killed
the policemen because he
wanted to recover his nine
rifles seized by the SARS
operatives from one of his
boys, Tosin. Narrating the
incident, Godogodo said:
“After SARS operatives
collected nine of my rifles,
I was left with only two
AK-47 rifles and a pump
action rifle. “On that
fateful day, we went to
rob residents of Awoyaya
area in Ajah. I was with
Odun, Oluwole,Yinusa and
Sayeed Omolopa.
“We robbed house-to-
house and on our way
home, we saw a police
van and a policeman
behind the van was
sleeping, Odun suggested
that we attack them and
collect their rifles and I
obliged. “We drove a
Sports Utility Van and
approached them, opened
fire on the patrol van and
it veered off the road. We
went after it and killed all
the policemen in the van
and collected their rifles.
After that operation, we
went to AlfaBeach to cool
off.” The Abule Egba
killings Godogodo also
narrated how he killed a
Police Inspector and a
corporal at Abule Egba
area of Lagos.
According to him, “Ife and
Oleh brought the job, they
told me that we should go
and rob a man who had
just returned from London
with huge sums of money
and some drugs. “We
went to his house and
discovered that he was
not at home and we left in
annoyance and went on
to rob some people from
house-to-house.
“On our way out, we
spotted some policemen
at Oko-Oba police station,
they didn’t know that we
were robbers. We killed
them before collecting
their rifles. “Some few
months later, we snatched
a white Range Rover
Sport in Ikeja and two of
the occupants escaped
with their phones.
“We suspected that they
were going to call the
police. On arriving
Agidingbi Road, we
spotted two RRS men on
a motorbike and we
thought they were coming
after us. We slowed down,
by the time they got very
close to us, I opened the
window and fired rapid
shots at them, they fell
into the gutter with their
motorbike and I sent my
boys to get their rifles
before we drove off.
“When we got to Coca-
Cola junction, there was
serious traffic and we
decided to make a turn.
When we got to the spot
where the policemen fell,
we saw some people who
were trying to help them
and my boys opened fire
on them again.
“We managed to make our
way to Medical Road,
close to ComputerVillage,
but by then, the policemen
there had received
message of our
operations and the
moment they sighted us,
they opened fire and
damaged our tyres. “We
managed the tyres up to
Capitol Road. There was
traffic and I came out of
my vehicle to clear the
traffic and there was this
Toyota Camry following
us.
I didn’t know that there
was an armed mobile
policeman in it. When I
returned I discovered that
Kasali was struggling with
the mobile policeman who
was carrying a rifle. “I
fired some shots at the
policeman. He attempted
to run away, I chased him
and killed him on the spot
before picking his rifle.
We snatched another
vehicle and abandoned
the Range Rover Sport
before we escaped
Police barricade on their
way and the sun blazing
above, All Progressives
Congress (APC) leaders
marched on the
headquarters of the
Independent National
Electoral Commission in
Abuja on Thursday.
Leading the way were
former Head of State
Muhammadu Buhari, APC
Chairman Chief Bisi
Akande, former Lagos
State Governor Asiwaju
Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
defunct All Nigeria
Peoples Party (ANPP)
former chairman Chief
Ogbonnaya Onu and
many others.
But what exactly is their
mission and their
demands?
They demanded the
cancellation of the
November 16 Anambra
State governorship
election, resignation of
Prof Attahiru Jega, INEC
Chairman, and dissolution
of the management of the
electoral body. In a scene
reminiscent of the pro-
democracy struggle
between 1993 and 1998
during the military era, the
leaders trekked for about
five kilometrer from the
APC National Secretariat
in Blantyre Street, Wuse II,
Abuja to Zambezi
Crescent in Maitama
District where INEC is
located.
The initial stage of the
trek was piloted by Ogun
State Governor Ibikunle
Amosun and Ekiti State
Governor, Kayode Fayemi
and many members of the
National Assembly.
The “great trek” was later
co-ordinated by a former
National Secretary of the
defunct Congress for
Progressives Change,
Buba Galadima, an
engineer.
But when the procession
took off, Gen. Buhari and
other top leaders of APC
withstood the rigours of
standing in an open lorry
for the protest march.
Waving brooms – the
APC’s symbol – they
brought traffic to a
standstill for about two
hours on the ever-busy
Ademola Adetokunbo
Street in Wuse II.
Revolutionary songs
blared from mounted
speakers.
Many workers in the
business district
abandoned offices to
identify with the
protesters.
They held leaflets and
placards with the
following inscriptions:
“Anambrarians, Nigerians
are with you”; “Anambra
Election: Jega, not the
INEC Messiah, Resign
Now”;
“2015, No hope with
Jega”; “No Supplementary
Election in Anambra”;
“Cancel Anambra Election
Now”;
and “Election Fraud Must
Stop Now”.
The procession, which
started at about 10.30pm,
berthed at the INEC
headquarters at about
12.03pm.
The situation turned into a
battle front with the
protesters at one end and
combat ready soldiers
and policemen at another
end. Journalists were left
in between.
At the end of the day,
their message was
passed.
The Goodluck Jonathan
administration has given
the Academic Staff Union
of Universities, ASUU, one
week ultimatum to call off
the ongoing strike or risk
mass sack. The directive
was given on Thursday
on behalf of the
government, in Abuja, by
the acting Minister of
Education, Nyesom Wike.
But in a swift reaction,
ASUU rubbished the threat
by the Jonathan
Government to sack any
lecturer who fails to report
back to school on
December 4, 2013. While
condemning the threat,
ASUU said:
“It is a pity if the
federal government
is not willing to
perfect the
resolutions reached
with union. This is
why we find it
difficult to trust our
leaders by their
words. How can
someone be
threatening to sack
lecturers when
universities are
already short-staffed
by almost 60,000?
We are not in
Military era. The
Military tried it and
failed. This one will
fail again.”
The union added that the
threat latest will not only
fail but worsen the
situation and "make the
strike linger more than
necessary."
With this threat, ASUU
said it is now very clear
that the Federal
government was not
ready to implement any
of the resolutions it
reached with the union.
A healing mystery stream
has surprisingly appeared
in Nachi community in the
Udi Local Government
Area of Enugu State,
almost 42 years after it
allegedly surfaced and
disappeared in the same
place.
The miracle stream, as it
is now fondly called by
millions of Nigerians, both
young and old, especially
sick ones and their
relations, surfaced and
disappeared in 1972 and
reappeared this time
around in the area about
two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, there had
been scores of
healing testimonies
from sick people who
either swam in or
drank from the
stream. According to
reports, dozens of
people, young and
old including security
operatives were seen
fetching the water
just as many were
taking their bath in
the stagnated
stream, believing it
would cure ailments.
The stream is about 4km
away from the old Oji
River/Onitsha road.
According to Vanguard
reports, the stream, which
has continued to attract
healing seekers, was first
noticed by a Fulani
herdsman who went to the
area to feed his cattle,
and suddenly saw water
gushing out from a sandy
farm land close to where
he was standing.
Before the Fulani man
could turn his back, the
entire area had water
about five feet deep.
The Fulani herdsman was
said to have alerted some
farmers in the community
about what he saw. They
went to see things for
themselves, after which
they took the news to the
traditional ruler of the
community, His Royal
Highness Igwe Onuigbo,
Obi (11) of Nachi.
A visit to the wonder
stream on Tuesday
showed that the
community had turned it
into a pilgrimage centre
with the development,
opening up windows of
business for the people,
especially plastic
container sellers, food
vendors, commercial
motorcyclists and vehicle
operators as they now
make brisk businesses.
Healing testimonies
Some people said to have
been taken to the stream
last Saturday with
crutches and other
supporting devices, were
said to have gone home
rejoicing after dipping
themselves in the stream.
One Mr. Cyril Eneh, a civil
servant, shortly after
coming out of the water
was quoted as saying:
“Indeed, this is a
miraculous water, people
with different sicknesses
have been coming here to
receive their healing. And
I also have the faith and
strong belief that God
Almighty, who provided
this water will use it to
tackle every health
challenge in my life.”
Also speaking, an
octogenarian and
community leader in
Nachi, Mr. Festus Udeh,
said the stream surfaces
and disappears every 20
to 30 years, adding that it
forbids evil things. He

Probably, part of Jude
Okoye and Peter Okoye's
problem is because Lola
is older than him. Read
this...
Each time I read the nasty
comments about Lola
Omotayo Okoye my heart
gets heavy. I do not know
her in person- just like
most of you. She has
been called "old",
"shameless" even a "gold
digger"! Some "kind"
people even empathize
with her and "understand"
that Peter married her
because of her kids.
Let's get a few things
straight:
Nobody has the
right to choose
another person's
spouse
I was in school
with Psquare,
Peter had a
girlfriend-Ada-
whom he was
crazy about. Ada
is a splitting
image of
Lola...does that
imply anything?
Age is not the
determinant of a
good marriage;
either party could
be older...
Prince Charles
married "much
younger" Diana,
how did that go?
How old is his
present wife-
whom he loved
all along?
Prince Williams
forsook all the
"younger girls" in
England and
married an older
bride
Sullivan Chime
married a "much
younger" Clara;
again, how did
that go
For those who
went as far as
calling Lola a
runs girl, who
sleeps with her
"uncles", do you
know this lady?
Do you know this
for a fact or is it
just hear say?
Why defame an
innocent lady
who is minding
her own
business? Do you
think Peter is a
fool?
For those who
justify these
rumours with the
story of her living
in a "mansion" in
Ikoyi - shebi you
people say she is
old? Do you
know she has a
career, did you
expect that at her
"old age" she
wouldn't have
risen through the
ranks?
For those of you
who see only
young brides as a
wise choice, it is
because you
haven't gotten
married yet.
There are some
childish attributes
the young wife
will have that will
make you almost
regret the
marriage - that is
if you don't do
that eventually
Peter knew very
well what he was
doing. He wants
peace,
companionship
and joy. A mature
and experienced
mother for his
kids. He saw all
the "young girls"
world over before
he made his
beautiful choice.
The incident was said to have occurred on
September 19 at Orokam, Obadigbo Local
Government area of the state
Apparently the woman pictured above is said to
be the wife of a popular school proprietor in the
area. She lost her husband on Tuesday, and was
accused by her husband’s people of committing
adultery which she admitted she was guilty of.
Further revelation by members of Orokam stated
that there is an oracle called “ALEKWU” in that
town which punishes married women that cheats
on their husbands and also deters people from
committing atrocities.
The Oracle supposedly issues out a warning to
the husband of any adulterous woman of which if
he fails to take appropriate actions or return to the
village from wherever he is to perform the proper
rites for cleansing himself and his family, he will
die.
A 22-year-old man, Eji
Emmanuel, has been
arrested by the Lagos State
Police Command for the
alleged murder of a 39-
year-old trader, Sylvanus
Okoye.
According to the police, the
suspect stabbed the
deceased to death at his
home on Ezemegbu Drive,
Okota in August.
The suspect, however,
explained that he killed the
deceased in self-defence.
He alleged that on the day
of the incident, Okoye had
attempted To Molest him.
Explaining the events that
culminated in Okoye’s
death, the suspect said he
was a dancer and was lured
to Lagos by a friend,
Chukwudi, under the guise
of doing music business
only for the friend to
introduce him to
homosexuality.
He said he had gone to
report the matter to his
friend’s boss but his
friend’s boss Molested him
twice and he reported the
matter at the FESTAC Police
Division.
He said the matter was
transferred to the Zone 2
Police Command and the
case was turned against
him after which he spent
two weeks in detention.
He said he had approached
Okoye, who he considered
an Igbo leader in the state,
to help him with money to
return to Anambra State
when Okoye also attempted
To Molest him.
He said, “I went along with
a relative to report the
matter to Okoye and he
gave my friend and I
N5,000 and shirts. He told
us not to worry, so we slept
over at his house. At
midnight, however, Okoye
came to my room and
attempted to have sex with
me but I refused him.
“My relative later told me
that Okoye had sex with
him in the parlour that
same night. We left in the
morning and returned to
Anambra State. From there,
I went to Abuja where I
remained for four months.
However, one day, Okoye
called me that he had a
business deal and invited
me to come to Lagos.
“I told Okoye that I would
not engage in any act of
homosexuality and he
agreed.”
The suspect said when he
returned to Lagos, the
deceased said he wanted to
open a bar in the area and
wanted him to manage the
business.
He said he passed the night
at the deceased’s home,
but at midnight, the
deceased crept into his
room and attempted to
make love to him.
He said, “In the evening,
Okoye served me with
bread, butter and tea in my
room. Around 3.30am, he
crept into my room and
wanted to sleep with me,
but I refused him.
“Okoye was a big man so
he attempted to overpower
me, but I picked up the
bread knife that was still left
in the room and stabbed
him in the neck, but he did
not die.
“I picked up a flexible iron
and bound it round his neck
and locked him inside the
room.
“When it was 6am, I
stepped out of the house
and gave the key to one
woman beside the gate and
fled.”
PUNCH Metro had reported
on August 16, 2013, that
Okoye was found murdered
in his home two weeks after
he was last seen by
neighbours.
It was learnt that following
the discovery, the security
guard and the woman
whom the suspect handed
the key to were arrested by
detectives at the State
Criminal Investigation
Department, Yaba.
PUNCH Metro learnt that
after three months,
detectives were able to
locate the suspect in
Anambra State.
A police detective said,
“The security guard told us
that he could identify the
suspect if he saw him.
“In the course of
investigation, we obtained
call logs from Okoye’s
phone and we learnt that
the suspect had used
Okoye’s phone to call his
girlfriend in Anambra State
shortly after killing Okoye.
“We travelled to Anambra
State and we were able to
locate the suspect who was
even wearing the
deceased’s clothes.”
The suspect, however,
insisted that he was not a
killer but a victim of
circumstance.
He said, “My father and my
brother are dead. I am the
only child of my mother.
Who will take care of her if I
am sent to prison?
“I am not a homosexual but
I was used. I tried for
several months to
impregnate my girlfriend but
was not successful. I feel
they have stolen my
virtues.”
Police Public Relations
Officer, Ngozi Braide,
confirmed Emmanuel’s
arrest to our correspondent
on the telephone.
Braide added that the police
were still working to
establish it the the victim
was a homosexual or not
as alleged by the suspect.
ADO EKITI — A mystery was
recorded in the rural
community of Olori Oko near
Ogotun Ekiti in Ekiti South-
West Local Government of Ekiti
State as a goat allegedly gave
birth to a strange creature.
Olori- Oko, a farm stead

The leader of the Niger Delta
People’s Volunteer Force, Alhaji
Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was
today arrested in Cotonou,
Benin Republic.
A statement by his lawyer,
Festus Keyamo, said Dokubo
was picked up by the police
between 1:00pm and 2:00pm
around the Lubeleyi
roundabout, and taken to an
unknown destination.
The wealthy former militant
reportedly opened a private
university in the Benin Republic,
the King Amachree African
University that is preparing to
start degree-awarding
programmes in 2014.
“We want to emphasise that
Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on
legitimate business and has
been living partly in Benin
Republic for many years now,”
Keyamo said in his statement.
“In fact, he owns houses,
schools and an academy in
that country. All these places
have been searched as at this
evening and nothing
incriminating was found.”
He suggested that Dokubo’s
arrest and detention may be a
ploy by “certain forces in
Nigeria in unholy alliance with
the Beninoise government” to
keep his client away as 2015
approaches.
“We call on the Nigerian
government to immediately
intervene and ensure that no
harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-
Asari and to use all diplomatic
means to secure his immediate
release and safe return to
Nigeria,” he said.
Dokubo has in recent times
vowed that unless Mr.
President Jonathan retains the
presidency in 2015, Nigeria
would break up.
How do you describe a
situation that men of the
Nigerian police saw a
metal object where the
Aviation Minister Stella
Oduah claimed her car
was shot at three times,
but they don't think what
they saw is a bullet?
That is the ridiculous
state of the alleged attack
on one of Stella Oduah's
cars in Abuja last
weekend. It's funny that
Mr Joe Obi, the man who
confirmed the purchase of
N255m bullet proof cars
for Stella, but was asked
to keep quiet, is also the
one saying the attack is
true.
“You said you heard
that the minister’s
car was shot at,
right? Of course that
is true and it
happened last Friday
at about 10.30pm ."
But the Police is not
moved. The FCT Police
Public Relations Officer,
Altienne Daniel, said...
“The incident was
reported to us on Monday
at exactly 5.45pm and we
are subjecting the metallic
object we recovered from
the car to ballistic test. I
can’t say whether the
object is a bullet or not .
So I can’t give you any
information on it for now.”
There has been several
efforts to change
President Gooodluck
Jonathan's mind and stop
him from taking action on
the report of the
Committee he set up to
investigate Stella Oduah. I
hear the report is
damning!
The crisis rocking the
People’s Democratic
Party (PDP) seems to
have finally reached a
climax with the G-7
governors resolving to
join the opposition All
Progressives Congress
(APC). This comes barely
24 hours after President
Goodluck Jonathan chose
to ignore a planned
meeting with the
governors which was seen
as a make or break
meeting between them
and the President.
Following Jonathan's
decision to postpone the
meeting and the set up of
a disciplinary committee
by PDP, the G7 governors
met behind closed doors
in Abuja on Monday night
and take strong decisions.
The strategic meeting,
which ended around
12:30am on Tuesday was
very frank and the
governors all agree that
staying in the PDP will
not do them any good.
Six of the governors voted
in favour of dumping the
PDP and joining the APC,
now that they still have
enough time to win more
converts in the states and
in the National Assembly.
Governors Sule Lamide of
Jigawa State is however
not in a hurry. He believes
Obasanjo and a few men
in the North can still do
something and compel
Jonathan to respect his
agreement to serve only
one term.
But a large number of
Senators and majority of
House of Reps members
are ready to follow G7
governors.
It was a terrible sight on
Sunday evening as a
middle aged woman,
identified as Kemi, bit off
the manhood of her
neighbour around the
Inalende area of Ibadan,
Oyo State. Kemi was said
to have resorted to biting,
according to an
eyewitness, after she was
thoroughly beating by the
man, identified simply as
Rasheed.
Speaking on what
made her cut off a
man's manhood with
her teeth, Kemi said:
“He reported me and
my friend to my
friend’s mother in-
law after she arrived
at our house and
thereafter started to
beat me and when
nobody rescued me
from him, I bit him
but I do not know it
was his pénis .”
It was gathered that
issues on how to settle a
misunderstanding between
Rasheed’s wife and
another woman
degenerated into a violent
fight. It was during the
process of partisan
interference that Kemi
angrily tore the man's
dress, held his manhood
and bit it off Mr Rasheed's
manhood live.
Aside from the manhood
which was bitten off, she
also inflicted a big sore
on the man’s
abdomen. Rasheed was
later rescued and rushed
to a nearby hospital in the
area for medical attention
while Kemi was handed
over to men of the Nigeria
Police Force in the nearby
police station.
Kemi, a mother of two,
further said they had not
been on speaking terms
since she relocated to the
area in June and
Rasheed’s wife had not
been greeting her and her
friend. “My friend, Adijat,
has not been greeting and
talking with Rasheed’s
wife, I know that was why
he decided to engage me
in a fight,” she added.
Unfortunately, Kemi is
going to prison as the
police is already in the
process of arraigning her
in court.
A Yaba Magistrate’s Court in
Lagos on Monday held that a
35-year-old Medical Doctor,
Edeye Monday, had a case to
answer over his alleged murder
of a 22-year-old pregnant
woman, Tolani Aderoju.
The Police Prosecutor, Godwin
Anyanwun, while arraigning Mr.
Monday in court on July 31,
2012, said the accused on May
29, 2012, injected Ms. Aderoju
with some unknown drugs,
while attempting to abort her
pregnancy.
The prosecutor had told the
court that Ms. Aderoju’s
mother, in her complaint, said
her daughter had informed her
that she was pregnant for one
Mufutau Alonge.
She said that Mr. Alonge had
taken her daughter to
Monday’s private clinic for an
abortion.
According to the prosecutor,
the accused, after injecting Ms.
Aderoju with drugs, but could
not terminate the pregnancy,
rushed her to another hospital,
where she died.
Mr. Anyanwun, a police
inspector, said that the offence
contravened Section 221 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State,
2011, and that the penalty was
the death sentence.
But the court adjourned the
matter till Nov. 25 to await the
advice of the State Director of
Public Prosecution’s (DPP) on
the matter, while it ordered that
the accused be remanded in
prison custody.
At the resumed hearing of the
case on Monday, the
Magistrate, Adekorede Ajibade,
said: “a murder case has been
established against the
accused.”
“Consequently, his case will be
transferred to a court of
superior record”.
She said that legal advice from
the DPP had established a
prima facie case of unlawful
killing against the accused.
Ms. Ajibade consequently
ordered that the case file be
transferred to the High Court,
for trial.
Seven suspected robbers were
shot dead, Sunday, along the
notorious Benin by-pass,
during a gun battle between the
police and the robbers.
The operation was personally
led by the Edo State
Commissioner of Police, Mr
Folusho Adebanjo.
At press time, the CP and a
special squad of detectives
were still combing the area
popular referred as haven for
robbers. Some of the robbers,
according to CP Adebanjo, were
still in the bushes with bullet
wounds.
As at 10:30am when the bodies
of the dead robbers were
brought to the Edo State Police
Command, one of the robbers
who identified himself as Sanda
from Kebbi State, was still alive
and he confessed that he only
joined his dead colleagues for
the first time, because he
needed money to go back to
Kebbi State.
One AK 47, cutlasses and
assorted charms were
recovered from the armed
bandits. It would be recalled
that passengers and drivers
have been robbed almost on
daily basis along the Benin by-
pass, while in most cases the
women among the passengers
were Molested by the armed
bandits who are mainly Hausa
Fulanis.
However, Adebanjo who is
known for his zero tolerance as
regards activities of robbers in
the state narrated that “this
operation took place at about
5:30-6am. Because we noticed
that arm robbers who operate
there always come out early
hours when people are
travelling or going to the
market for their businesses.
Their activities along that by-
pass have become an
embarrassment and with
intelligence which we gathered,
we laid an ambush.
“What happens is that they
normally come with a bus
where they load themselves
and when they get to the by-
pass they distribute themselves
to different locations to
perpetrate their evil. You will
look at the bus as an old one,
maybe you will even think they
are going to the farm but they
are dare devil armed robbers.
“You that the by-pass leads to
different states but
unfortunately these hoodlums
made that place haven for
operation. So we stormed there
this morning following a tip off,
we met them and engaged
them. They engaged us too the
result is what you are looking
at now.
Some of them are still in the
bushes with bullet wounds, my
men are still there pushing
them and I am going back there
myself because we are going to
round all of them up.
“Armed robbers cannot be safe
anywhere in Edo state. That is
the message we have for them
throughout this festive period
and next year” he asserted.
It appears that the
purported rift between
Peter Okoye, one-half of
P-Square and his elder
brother, Jude Okoye is
deeper than we had
thought. Up till today,
Jude has not congratulate
his brother for his
wedding.
A week after Peter's
wedding to Lola Omotayo,
the P-Square pop singer,
in company of his twin
brother Paul, travelled to
Tanzania for a concert
with no signs of a
honeymoon trip in sight.
The twins arrived Dar es
Salaam, Tanzania, last
Friday, to entertain fans at
the Leaders Club,
Kinondoni.
Surprisingly, Jude, who
was their manager before
Peter married Lola,
shunned the trip.
"It is unusual for Jude to
be absent in any of his
brothers’ engagement", a
source close to the family
said.
But what is really the
matter that Jude is so
angry with his brother,
Peter getting married to
Lola?
A dispute between the
Presidency and an online
news medium, Sahara
Reporters, has introduced
a new twist to the health
challenge that President
Goodluck Jonathan had in
London last week
Thursday. The matter was
provoked by a response
by the Special Adviser to
the President on Media
and Publicity, Dr. Reuben
Abati, to the online
media's story on the
President's illness.
They had reported that
Jonathan’s health broke
down in London after
engaging in heavy
drinking during a bash
organised to mark his
56th birthday in his hotel
room in London.
That this angered the
Presidency is evident in
the tone of statement
issued by Dr. Abati, which
indicates that the
government may institute
a legal action against
Sahara Reporters.
In the statement that has
sparked online reactions
from many Nigerians,
Abati said contrary to
claims, Jonathan
observed his birthday on
Wednesday quietly with
better part of the day
spent on air from Abuja to
London – while the
remaining part was spent
in the privacy of his hotel
room.
But Sahara Reporters say
they are ready to go to
court as they are sure of
what they reported.
With the latest
development, the
presidential spokesman
has once again come
under fire from Nigerians
who say the response is
hardly necessary. A
majority of Nigerians who
have taken to Twitter,
Facebook and The Punch
news website, where the
statement was also
published, say Abati’s
response has thrown the
hitherto ‘unpopular and
unknown report’ into the
open.
Meanwhile, in the midst of
the debate, Sahara
Reporters says its report
on the President’s health
is valid. It made this
known in a statement on
its website, saying,
“Despite Mr. Jonathan’s
threats and deployment of
scare tactics, Sahara
Reporters, stands by its
account of the events in
London in the past few
days...
As 2015 election
approaches and Mr.
Jonathan tries to win the
sympathy of Nigerians in
his favour, we challenge
him to prove — including
in a court of law – that
these reports have been
“entirely fictional,
malicious, hate-driven
and scurrilous distortion
of the facts.”
The Federal Government
has released the details of
new duties and levies
payable on imported new
and used cars as well as
imported new tyres from
next year, raising the tariff
from 20 per cent to 70 per
cent. Already, dealers of
imported vehicles has
estimated that the new
rate would translate into
an increase of 60 per cent
on imported cars.
In other words, prices
of imported cars
currently being sold
between N3m and
N5m will shoot up to
N4.8m and N8m;
while tokunbo
vehicles selling for
N800,000 will rise to
N1.28m.
The Federal Executive
Council had last month
approved a new national
automotive policy to
encourage local
production and
assembling of new
vehicles with an
imposition of a high
import tariff on fully built
vehicles.
A two-page document
dated November 14 and
signed by Minister of
Finance, Dr. Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala, gave the
new import tariff on cars
as 70 per cent (of the
cost of each vehicle).
It stated that a fully built
car would attract a duty
of 35 percent and another
35 percent of the cost of
the car as a levy.
Hitherto, importers/
dealers parted with 20 per
cent and two per cent as
duty and levy, respectively
on new cars. Ten per cent
flat rate was also
imposed on commercial
vehicles.
Although the new tariff on
cars shows an increase of
48 per cent over the old
rate, dealers have
estimated that the
showroom price of an
imported car will rise by
60 per cent when other
variables (costs) are
added.
A sales manager with one
of the major dealers told
Punch that: “Many of us
are skeptical about
ordering for new vehicles
because we don’t know if
people would be ready to
pay the about 60 per cent
increase on the cars when
the import duty and levy
are added to the original
cost of purchase. Even
the supplies by local
plants will obviously be
grossly inadequate to
meet the demand.”
A 32-year-old Lebanese,
identified as Jack
Sankary, whose hobby is
to have carnal knowledge
of under-aged girls in
Akure, the Ondo State
capital, South-West
Nigeria, has been nabbed
by police detectives.
His recruiter, Patience
Godwin, has also been
arrested and I hear she is
currently undergoing
interrogation at the state
CID, in Ondo
State. Patience was
arrested at her hideout in
Odopetu area of Akure
metropolis, while another
14-year-old girl that she
was about taking to the
shameless Lebanese was
rescued.
Also, a middle aged
woman, Chinwe Chinasa,
was arrested for allegedly
trafficking six young girls
to Libya for prostitution
through Ondo State. The
command image maker,
Wole Ogodo, said after the
raid on the hideout, it was
discovered that the six
young girls had been
prepared for the journey
to Libya.
The girls say they were
virgins
Some of the girls
confirmed that the suspect
deceived their parents
that she was going to
help them look for jobs
and not prostitution. They
alleged that they were
virgins before they were
lured into the illicit
business of prostitution by
the suspect, Chinwe
Chinasa.
The girls were said to
have pleaded with the
police to temper justice
with mercy since they
were deceived into the
trade. But police say all
the parties will be charged
to court and it's the court
that will decide.
Nollywood actress Gloria
Mba caught her husband
"in the act" with her best
friend and this made her
pack out of her
matrimonial home and
abandon her husband for
her so called friend. Below
is her experience:
Have you encountered
lesbianism in Nollywood?
Yes, I have and I was very
firm with them. We can be
playing but when it gets
further than necessary I
won’t tolerate it. When
you are not a man, why
should you be touching
my sensitive parts? What
do they see in it? But it’s
their choice. I am not
against them; just don’t
come close to me.
What’s your relationship
now with your best friend
who ruined your
marriage?
I haven’t spoken to her for
more than a year. I don’t
have anything against her;
God is my witness. I saw
her once at Shoprite in
Surulere. I don’t keep
grudges for long, because
if you are holding down
someone, you are holding
yourself down too. I wish
them all the best.
A lot of marriages break
up in the industry, how do
you intend to safeguard
your next marriage?
From my experience, I
have learnt something and
I will use that as a
yardstick. All marriages
can never be the same
but I have always wanted
to be a wonderful wife
I think the deliverance he
got from TB Joshua's
church is really working.
Jim Iyke is now a very
calm, gentle and loving
man who treats his
woman with so much
love. They are now in
Zurich. See more photos

He Sacked Me Because I
Refused To Sleep With
Him... Secretary Exposes
Ambassador!
Being an ambassador,
your primary assignment
is to be an official
representative to a foreign
country. One of your
duties is to paint the
country you are
representing in good
image; this is a different
case when it gets to the
Nigerian Ambassador to
Sri Lanka, F. A. Rotimi,
according to his former
secretary.
Mr. Rotimi is not a hidden
person when talking about
an ambassador or a
diplomat with a blacklist,
but in such a country -
Nigeria - influential people
are hardly crucified
despite their horrific and
embarrassing attitude
both at home and abroad.
I hear his secretary is
threatening to expose all
his dirty secrets. Also,
another lady who saw the
story had some bad
things to say about Mr
Rotimi, Nigeria's
Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
Below is her revelations...
"I read your news on the
Sri Lankan meeting and
was utterly not surprised
considering my brush with
Rotimi who is the
ambassador there, I knew
it would only be a matter
of time before signs of his
true colors began to
show.
"His trip to Poland was
the punitive equivalent of
sending someone to
Serbia, this was as a
result of his atrocities,
"During this
'chastisement' probation
was when his moles were
deleting his bad case files
which aided him in
scaling through the panel
screening for
ambassadorial position.
He had cases of infidelity
and illegitimate children,
bilking the chancery
position and even
fraudulent papers
presented to the Ministry
which was the basis on
his being appointed in the
first place to chancery."
She added: "He brags
about being untouchable
and what not, uses
security to harass 'un-
friendly media' as long as
you are not on his hatchet
team to cover up stuff."
The Ambassador is
however keeping mum on
the allegations against
him, some very bad, I
can't post here.
The Academic Staff Union
of Universities, ASUU, has
indicated their readiness
to end the prolonged
strike that has crippled
academic activities in all
government owned
universities across Nigeria
for about 5 months. But
this will only happen if the
government of President
Goodluck Jonathan meet
the demands below...
First is to pay the four
months salaries owed its
members by the
government during the
period of the strike.
The union also wants the
immediate implementation
of the N1.2tn offer by the
Government to public
universities, starting with
the release of N100bn this
year. The balance of
N1.1tn is to be spread
over five years from 2014.
These were some of the
resolutions reached by
members of the National
Executive Council of the
union that met in Kano on
Friday to deliberate on
what must be done by
government before the
strike is called off.
"The issue now is on trust
and we do not want a
situation where promises
will not be kept. The
authorities have failed us
in the past and we do not
want a repeat of that.
"That was why we
decided at the NEC
meeting that the
government should pay us
the arrears of salaries
being owed us since we
started the strike on July
1, 2013, before the strike
can be called off. The
salaries should not be
paid piecemeal," said a
top source in ASUU.
The ball is now in the
court of the government.
Will they FG pay ASUU for
the months they did not
work?
Police in southern Italy have
arrested an 18-year-old
Nigerian boy on suspicion of
murdering a 60-year-old
Catherine Susca outside the
coastal city of Bari. Catherine
was found semi-Unclad with a
plastic bag over her head and
her skull crushed in her
apartment in Torre a Mare.
According to investigations, the
death of Catherine Susca was
caused by the beating she
received in the course of the
attack, suffocation with a
plastic bag dropped on her
head and strangulation with a
scarf.
The Nigerian boy, Donald
Nwajiobi, who lives in Bari but
homeless, confessed he killed
the woman in self defense after
she attacked him with a pair of
scissors and he also claimed to
have acted alone. However,
investigators will verify whether
there were accomplices.
Donald said he had met the
victim at Torre a Mare on the
morning of the incident and
asked her for food; the lady
who was in the car asked him
to follow her home with a
promise to give him something
to eat.
The police think once in the
house, Donald tried to steal
from the woman and was
caught in the act, which would
have led the 60 year old
woman into trying to chase him
out of her house with a pair of
scissors, but Donald attacked
her and suffocated her with a
plastic bag after beating her up.
Some money was stolen from
the deceased plus a mobile
phone with which he was
tracked down by the police.
Donald was remanded in prison
after the judge, Sergio Di Paola,
ruled that he could be
dangerous to free him on bail
for he could kill again and
probably flee.
