Information reaching
obascotec from the
federal capital territory,
Abuja, is that a huge
explosion rocked a
popular filling station in
the city centre, just by the
offices of the Nigeria
National Petroleum
Corporation building in
Abuja's Central Business
District on Thursday
afternoon.
The unfortunate incident
has thrown the area into
panic mood as workers
are scampering for safety.
A source at the scene of
the explosion told
obascotec on
phone that the incident
was caused by tanker that
was in the process of
discharging petroleum
product into a Conoil
filling station's reserve
tank.
As at the time of filling
this report, my source say
the fire from the tanker
has spread to the pumps
in the filling station. NNPC
Fire Service who are in
the vicinity do not have
water, making the
situation worse.
