A massive python was spotted
coughing up a dog it devoured
on the streets of Bangkok.
A cellphone video of the grisly
regurgitation shows the snake
stretch its huge jaw out wide
and back up until the canine is
completely out of its system,
reported Nine News.
“The video tells me that the
python was being stressed —
like someone was poking at it
— because the python will have
a much more difficult time
defending itself if it has a huge
meal in it,” reptile expert and
conservationist Jim Nesci told
the Daily News.
The harrowing clip was posted
to YouTube and LiveLeak,
where it garnered more than
100,000 views.
But Nesci suspected that the
incident may have been filmed
by someone familiar with the
snakes.
Nesci said that the python
reticulatus is very common in
southeastern Asia, and he
found it peculiar that someone
happened to have a snake pole
ready to go.
“If you look at the one part
(toward the end of the clip),
that guy has a noose that he
uses,” Nesci said. “It tells me
that they knew right away that
the snake was going to yak up
the dog.”
The only reason other than
stress that a python would
regurgitate its meal would be if
it had digestion trouble, Nesci
explained.
“In nature, predators are very
opportunistic and will eat
whatever they can at the time
because they don’t know when
they can eat next.”
